Winning Doesn’t Mean Success and Losing Doesn’t Mean Failure

Don’t be scared of failure, learn from it and try again!

This should be the motto of life. Winning and losing are the two sides of the same coin. You can’t have one without the other. To make someone win, someone has to lose. Winning does not define success and losing does not mean failure. When you start a thing or play a game, you learn a lot of things. There is plenty to explore, so much new to learn, and a lot to grasp. During this journey you go through tough times, hurdles, obstacles, etc. Along with that, you also gain courage to endure the tough times, learn tricks to cross hurdles, and find solutions to obstacles. And this is what you must take from every journey.

As Paul William “Bear” Bryant puts it, “Losing does not make me want to quit. It makes me want to fight that much harder.” The same applies to each one of us, no matter whether it is a game or any real situation. When you lose it does not mean failure, it means you need to work harder than before. Irrespective of the outcome – victory or failure – it is essential to value the journey. Success is not just winning but on the other hand it is actually giving your 100% to whatever you are doing. Success is surpassing your own limits. Winning should always be secondary to achieving your personal goals. Make it the basic principle of your life – to compete against your own self, to overcome your own fears, and to work harder every time to fulfil your dreams.

How you deal with the journey and what you bring back home from this journey is what matters the most. And as they say success is a story of failures. How can you create something new, do something out of the box if you are scared of failures. So be ready to accept them as the part of journey and always be courageous to go extra mile to achieve your goals.

Instead of taking losing is a failure, you should take it is a trial or an experiment that gives you another kind of learning. When you win something, you get busy in celebrating. On the contrary, when you lose, your entire focus shifts to amending the mistakes you have made and learning the skills to win. So just stop measuring success and failures by the yardstick of winning or losing. Just go for your dreams, give in your best, and enjoy whatever you – every single day!
